Hampden Estate Pagos Rum
Hampden Estate has been distilling for nearly three centuries in the Trelawny Parish, historically known as the grand cru of Jamaican rum, where they have become renowned throughout the world for their intensely flavorful rums. Since their inception in 1753, the distillery has produced iconic, heavy pot still rums using unique production methods that create their remarkable aromas and exceptional taste. In 2010, the distillery began aging their rums at the distillery in the tropical climate of Jamaica and the first official bottlings were released in 2018.
Taking its name from the Spanish word used to describe plots of vines in the famed Jerez region of Spain, Pagos was created with the notion of exploring the synergy between the intensity of Hampden Estate rum and the rounded sweetness of sherry cask aging. Pagos annual limited releases are aged entirely in prestigious 500-litre Sherry casks as the result of partnerships with two famous Bodegas in Jerez: Lustau and Fundador, where sherry casks were shipped from the Andalusian cellars to Hampden Estate's own aging warehouse in Trelawny, Jamaica.
This third batch of Hampden Pagos is the result of a blend of 16 casks from Bodegas Fundador that have previously contained Oloroso Sherry for up to 30 years. The casks were filled with Hampden Estate’s emblematic HLCF (Hampden Light Continental Flavoured) mark and aged in the tropical climate of Jamaica. This bottling has an ester content of 374.1 gr/HLPA and is bottled at 52%.
