Lamartine is a Larusée absinthe aged for 24 months in an oak barrel that previously contained Chardonnay from an exceptional estate in the Burgundy village of Meursault. It bears the name of Monsieur de Lamartine, a French author and statesman who was a great figure of romanticism, Burgundian by birth, and a lover of absinthe.

Part of their Les Précieuses series, this Larusée single cask yielded just 298 bottles at 56.24% abv.

Larusée is produced using traditional, artisanal methods and seeks to offer a refined, elegant take on this historic beverage in which the human touch is present throughout the production process. First, the dozen or so herbs and aromatic plants are carefully chosen and weighed to the nearest gram before being placed in 120 liter "chauffe" chambers in a still designed by Larusée themselves. Bottling is done individually, with corking carried out on a unique machine developed in partnership with a local mechanic. Labels are added manually, and the bottle necks are wax sealed.

While France is often thought of as the home of Absinthe, history points to the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel, where Larusée is located, as the true birthplace of the green fairy, where it began as an all purpose remedy created by Dr. Pierre Ordinaire.
