Domaine d'Aurensan 1990

Domaine d’Aurensan is situated in Ténarèze, where the soils locally known as “peyrusquet” are made up of clay-limestone, along with some sandy areas. At Aurensan specifically, their 5-hectare estate provides them with chalky and clay soils in which to grow their vines. The Rozès family has been making Armagnac since the late 1900s – they are true vignerons and spend much of the time in their vineyards where all the work is done by hand. They pick only grapes that have reached full maturity and when making their wines they do not add yeasts or sulfur. When it comes to the distillate, their slogan is TRIPLE ZERO – no reduction, no sugar, zero coloring. Aurensan only bottles brandy of considerable age, often several decades old. Aging takes place in traditional 420-liter barrels that are fashioned from the Gascon oak grown on their estate.
